Warping America To The Left

Here is a mish-mash of ways in which the Left is trying to warp America toward its own ends, starting with the White House itself.

Misusing the military

Trying to fulfill a reckless campaign promise, President Obama is pushing for repeal of the 1993 law stating that homosexuals are not eligible to serve in the military. As with plans to conduct trials of Mirandized terrorists in the United States, the commander in chief has assigned lower priority to the needs of the military and national security.

Members of the Joint Chiefs and even the secretary of defense, a political appointee who applauded and will likely sing the president’s tune at a Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC) hearing on Tuesday, looked grim when they heard the marching orders. A Pentagon spokesman referred to the issue as a “problem,” and rightly so. Pentagon lawyers who advised a delay in repealing the 1993 law only two weeks ago are starting to take the issue more seriously than the commander in chief.

The president’s goal can only be achieved legally by passage of a new “LGBT Law” for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders in the armed forces.

Contrary to the president’s statement, there is no national desire to “finally” repeal the 1993 law (Section 654, Title 10). The statute, which is always mislabeled “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” states that homosexuals are not eligible to serve in the military. Only the well-funded LGBT Left is pushing this issue, and they expect a political payoff regardless of the consequences.

Apparently the president has not read the law itself, which states, “There is no constitutional right to serve in the military.” Many groups of people who are patriotic are not eligible to serve in uniform, but everyone can serve our country in some way. …

To draw a “picture” of the consequences of the proposed LGBT Law, the Center for Military Readiness has prepared charts illustrating just how radical the new LGBT Law for the Military would be. More than 1,160 retired Flag & General Officers for the Military have personally signed a statement supporting the 1993 law and expressing concerns that its repeal would “break the All-Volunteer Force.”

Radicalizing high school students

Obama is using our public school system to recruit for his Alinsky-inspired private army. Organizing for America is (and I quote) recruiting in our high schools to “build on the movement that elected President Obama by empowering students across the country to help us bring about our agenda” …………of national socialism.

Atlas posted the recommended reading from the student handout:

Check out the recommended reading list page 4:

  • Rules for Radicals, Saul Alinsky
  • The New Organizers, Zack Exley
  • Stir It Up: Lessons from Community Organizing and Advocacy, Rinku Sen
  • Obama Field Organizers Plot a Miracle, Zack Exley, Huffington Post
  • Dreams of My Father Chicago Chapters, Barack Hussein Obama

Honestly, and people still question if this guy is a radical socialist?

NASA mission to unravel Sun's threat to Earth

The headline is all you really need to read.  Oh, boy.  Craziness #1: since when is NASA a global warming monitoring agency?  (Answer: since Obama made it one)  Craziness #2: without the Sun, the Earth would be an uninhabitable block of ice.  'Threat'?  How about life-sustaining blessing…?  Sheesh.

Dem Senators offer fiery rhetoric about lobbyists before heading to the beach with lobbyists

The guest list for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee’s “winter retreat” at the Ritz Carlton South Beach Resort doesn’t include the price tag for attendance, but the maximum contribution to the committee, typical for such events, is $30,000. There, to participate in “informal conversations” and other meetings Saturday, were senators including DSCC Chairman Robert Menendez; Michigan’s Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow; Bob Casey of Pennsylvania; Claire McCaskill of Missouri; freshmen Kay Hagan of North Carolina and Mark Begich of Alaska; and even left-leaning Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Across the table was a who’s who of 108 senior Washington lobbyists, including the top lobbying officials for many of the industries Democrats regularly attack: Represented were the American Bankers Association, the tobaco company Altria, the oil company Marathon, the Edison Electric Institute, which has battled climate regulation, several drug manufacturers, the defense contractor Lockheed, and most of the large independent lobbying firms: Ogilvy, BGR, Quinn Gillespie, Heather Podesta, and Tony Podesta.

The retreat’s guest list is a marked contrast to Menendez’s recent rhetoric, which has echoed the White House denunciation of “special interests” and “fat cats.”

Education program fails; thus, Dems throw more money at it

While the federal government already spends as least $25 billion on the existing 69 preschool and child care programs, the Obama administration is calling for #70—proposing $9.3 billion for a new “Early Learning Challenge Grant”. As we wrote last year, the Early Learning Challenge Grant fund would push states to spend more on preschool programs, when evidence is mounting that preschool programs aren’t delivering the benefits their proponents promise.

Given the recent national evaluation showing that the nation’s 45 year and $167 billion experiment with Head Start has been a failure, shouldn’t the Obama administration be living up to their programs of “funding what works” by reforming rather than expanding federal spending on preschool?

It's the Obama era, where every possible route to every possible destination on every possible issue only contains sharp left turns.

There's my two cents.
