Danger? Welcome To The Big Leagues…Now Grow Up.

In a cheap tactic to try to gain some sympathy and thus stop being the people that Americans hate for pushing DemCare on us, Democrats have suddenly started to report incident after incident of violence against them. Of course, many of them are probably perpetrated by Democrat nutjobs trying to paint Republicans in a bad light. Some incidents are probably legit, some are incredibly nebulous, and some are ludicrious examples of crazy people, like this one:

The Seattle Times (bolding mine):

Protesters have been demonstrating at Driehaus’ Ohio home, said Tim Mulvey, a spokesman for the anti-abortion Democrat who joined Stupak in voting for the health bill. A rock was thrown through the window of Driehaus’ Cincinnati office Sunday, and a death threat was phoned in to his Washington office a day later, Mulvey said.

Instapundit:

Justin Binik-Thomas emails from Cincinnati that Rep. Driehaus’ office “is on the 30th floor of a skyscraper downtown.”

Seriously.

That’s quite an arm! Or a whopper of a lie.

Anyway, it’s interesting to note that Republicans have been getting just as many threats and acts of violence against them, but they haven’t politicized it:

Via The Right Scoop, Rep. Eric Cantor announced that his office has received threats for his positions on issues as well as his Jewish heritage, and that one of his offices had a window shot out. He only spoke out about this to combat the unbalanced reporting of fringe threats against members of Congress. Cantor singled out DCCC chair Rep. Chris van Hollen for exploiting fringe threats for political gain, “fanning the flames” to “dangerous levels.” Cantor declared that “enough is enough,” and implored his colleagues from both parties to let law enforcement handle the threats from the political fringes

Basically, the GOP is a bunch of grown-ups who understand there are just some crazy people in this world, and by giving them exposure, it just encourages them. Dems, apparently, don’t…or they’re so desperate to get the spotlight off their DemCare abuse to point somewhere else that they’ll point fingers at anything as a distraction. Come to think of it, that kind of makes them children, too.

So does this:

DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse …:

We disagree with the charge made by Rep. Cantor today that Democrats are using acts of violence for political gain. Let’s be clear: calling on Republican leaders who have contributed in part to this anger by wildly mischaracterizing the substance and motives of health reform to condemn these acts is entirely appropriate.

Instead of distracting from the issue with more attacks, we would again ask Mr. Cantor and other Republicans, as we did yesterday, to join Chairman Kaine in working to ratchet down the rhetoric, condemn deplorable behavior and find ways to disagree on these issues without the charged rhetoric that we’ve been hearing from Republican leaders.

Um…okay. So, he accuses Republicans of distractions and again calls on them to help stop the violence from their side…with no condemnation of violence from his own side, even a gun being shot into Cantor’s office! Of course, Ace of Spades reminds us that Dems are just being consistent on gun violence being used against the Right:

I guess that’s something.

Indeed, Rush Limbaugh had some choice words to say on the subject that really puts things into perspective:

Let me just ask you a question. When is the last time you can recall a bunch of conservatives having a riot? When is the last time you can recall a bunch of conservatives disrupting a congressional hearing? When is the last time you can recall a bunch of conservatives coming out with books and movies on how to assassinate a president? The simple fact of the matter is that this kind of behavior that these people are running around scared to death of and accusing people of, they are the authors of this kind of behavior. These are the people that wrote the book on how to do this. Our side doesn’t do this kind of stuff. This is all made up, 95% of it’s made up and it’s being done to divert everybody’s attention.

These people know that what they have done is universally unpopular. They are trying to distract everybody’s attention and create sympathy for them by making up stories and lying about threats, death threats, when these people are the architects of how these kinds of threats and protest marches and violence work. I mean, we don’t have anybody on our side that tried to blow up the Pentagon. And certainly we don’t have anybody on our side who had a friend who tried to blow up the Pentagon who’s now president of the United States. We don’t have anybody on our side wiping out cops.

They want to talk about violence? All right, you mean violence like the Black Panthers, the New Black Panthers in Philadelphia at polling places? You want to talk about violence like the SEIU, which beat up a young black man with cancer in a wheelchair at a political rally last summer? You remember all those stories about Republican offices, Bush-Cheney offices being vandalized during the campaign? Did we get three days of stories about those? You probably don’t even remember those stories. I’ve got ’em, we’ll get to them here in just a second. You probably don’t remember them. It’s amazing to me how quickly — and don’t forget Sarah Palin hung in effigy, George W. Bush hung in effigy, assassination books and movies about George Bush.

Every time we disagree with these people we have to hear how we’re racists, sexists, bigots, homophobes, and all the rest. Is that not hate speech, especially when it’s lies? The left is the architect, the author of hate speech. They wrote the book on it. They wrote the book on hateful behavior. They wrote the book on uncivil unrest. They wrote the book on blowing up bank buildings. They wrote the book on blowing up the Pentagon. They wrote the book on domestic terrorism.

These people are unreal. They will use anything as an opportunity for political gain, even something that is almost totally fabricated. If they have evidence of violence from Right-leaners, present it. If not, stop politicizing because it only encourages more. And, most of all, stop over-generalizing:

There’s my two cents.

I'm a gun-owning, Bible-thumping, bitter clinger conservative in the heartland. You can disagree with me if you want (you do, after all, have a right to be wrong)...just don't be rude or stupid and we'll get along just fine! :)
